Welcome to PFSQ

Private Forestry Southern Queensland (PFSQ) is an incorporated ‘not-for-profit’

association, whose primary function is to assist in the development of the private forest industry in southern Queensland.

A management board of 6 eminent forest industry representatives oversees PFSQ.

PFSQ receives some funding from a number of NRM groups to address sections of their regional funding strategic plan. The funding covers extension and training programs in Native Forest Management to landholders to improve the productive and environmental outcomes of the private native forest resource as well as plantation establishment and management.

PFSQ also undertakes a range of commercial operations including Native Forest and Plantation assessment, property and harvest management plans as well as managing harvests and Stand Improvement Treatment operations.

Our membership comprises farm forestry support groups, Industry representatives, Government representatives, Landcare groups and individuals with an interest in private forestry …more..

Private forestry potential

“A good productive forest can return the same dollars as grazing.”

That’s according to advocate Sean Ryan from Private Forestry Southern Queensland, who says while it’s a long term investment, adoption of good management of private forestry, can drought proof property, increase cash flow and improve green credentials.
