United Nations asks: Can the forestry industry be part of the solution?

“If you’re not part of the solution then you are part of the problem”

Growing trees helps combat greehouse emissions by sequesting carbon but can we as an industry go further? The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations is asking this very question.

Neil Hirst, Director of Energy Technology of the International Energy Agency (IEA) had this to say about the forestry industry “It has the exceptional ability to become a net supplier of a range of energy products and it could, in combination with carbon capture and storage, become an important actor in removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.”
