NATIVE FOREST MANAGEMENT 5 DAY WORKSHOP SERIES

DAY 1- WEDNESDAY

18th April 2007 9.00am – 3.00pm 

Location: Cooloola Shire Council Rifle Range Block across road from the Victory Store, Bath Terrace, Gympie

The native forest management workshops are conducted one day per fortnight for 10 weeks. The workshop duration is usually from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm and visits a number of participant’s properties.

The workshops cover the following topics:

Veg Management Act and the Code of Practice

Stand assessment and stocking Rates

Forest condition, management timeline and Grazing Land Management

Product specifications

Contractors, contracts, standing sales, log dump sale, mill gate sale

Contractor management ( accreditation, insurance, reputation)

Timber sales, values, product range

Post harvest management (Fire, stand protection, removal of temporary crossings, track and dump drainage)

Regeneration from seed, lignotuber or coppice, establishment, management and protection

Includes diameter tape, log volume tables and folder with forest management guides and Code of Practice

Please bring a hat and wear suitable footwear and sun smart clothing.

Morning tea, afternoon tea and lunch supplied. Cost for 5 days: $330.00 per Farm Enterprise

(Special: Registration prior to 5th April, $165.00 + $38.50 Forestry magazine subscription = $203.50)
